What is SASS?
SASS is a networking and social group for women of color in the Charlotte area. Our mission is to focus on building friendships, professional networking, community outreach and social events. Our goal is to unite single, successful, black women and to provide a friendship circle and support system where experiences are shared and lifetime relationships are developed.
SASS was founded in October 2004 for the purpose of providing women of color an opportunity to come together in friendship and to strengthen our bond of sista-hood.
WHEN?
We meet monthly for standard meetings, but also look for fun activities and entertainment throughout the month which will allow us to get together for bonding, partying and laughs!
WHERE?
Our meetings may range from: Dining at Local Restaurants; Sporting/Poetry/Musical or Cultural Events; Book Discussions; Business Networking; Community Service; Travel; or simply Hanging Out and Having Fun!
Events vary and member suggestions are encouraged. There is no membership fee to join SASS. Our objective is not-for-profit, but to create priceless experiences and friendships. Each member is only responsible for the cost of the event (dinner, admission, travel, etc.)
WHO?
SASS currently has a membership of twelve dynamic women. Although the group is targeted to women of color, any woman who is interested in joining SASS is welcome to inquire. To learn more about these SASS-y Ladies, click on the Members link.
"SASS" Defined
Our definition of "SASS" is Single And Successful Sistas. However, in Webster's Dictionary, you will find the official meaning to also be fitting to these ladies of distinction: 1. (Noun) An impudent or insolent rejoiner; back talk. 2. (Verb) To answer or reply in a saucy manner. 3. (Adjective) Sassy or saucy, vigorous, lively, distinctively smart and stylish.
